I'm just your typical moron who throws random temper tantrums every now and again. If I would have known this is how I was destined to turn out fifteen years ago after graduating University, I would have stabbed myself in the head with my gift graduation pen then and there.

Whatever happened to these guys? They just kinda...*poof*...vanished into a puff of reefer smoke...I love their jam-ilicious tracks 'Dragonfly' and 'Abdega Gaga'. Nice version of Tony Rice's 'Old Train' to boot.

Medeski, Martin & Wood
Gathering of the Vibes - Grieg Farm
Red Hook, NY
07-01-01

I totally remember the hot and dusty Nazi Death March into this venue, getting set up amid the swirling chaos and then being literally bombarded by sheet lightning and torrential rain...all in a matter of hours. This was the first set of music I managed to see this day.

Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers
Asheville Civic Center
Asheville, NC

Part of Warren Haynes' infamous annual Christmas show, and he even guests here along with Jackson Browne and Ron Holloway. But despite the venue, the band, the magical time of year, Bruce or his esteemed guests...this show - for whatever reason - barely has a pulse.

Reid Genauer & Assembly of Dust
Club Liquid
Manchester, NH
12-31-03

Not one of my favorite of Reid's "hoo-ha ditties", but anyway you slice it, they are all solid, catchy fucking songs. The track Valhalla, for example, makes me want to climb to the top of the tallest building and wave a blonde at on-coming fighter jets.

Bruce Hornsby

Oh, Bruce. What would laundromats be like without ya? Bruce really throws the teases around in this show like a $3 prostitute; everything from 'Teddy Bears Picnic' to 'Itsy-Bitsy Spider' to '100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall'.

New Monsoon
Austin City Limits Festival - Zilker Park
Austin, TX
09-18-04

Another set for which I have little memory of, apart from having my face baking off in the 1000-degree Texas sun and at ever-constant risk of being trampled to death. Turns out that it was an amazing set of music even though I was in too much agony to know it at the time.

Medeski, Martin & Wood
Stubb's BBQ
Austin, TX
05-11-02

I'm sticking with the Texas-based theme today I suppose for an excellent largely-acoustic set featuring a wicked 'Bemsha Swing/Lively Up Yourself' medley to close out the first set.

KVHW
The Gate
Vancouver, BC
12-06-98

"KVHW was an American rock band that was active and toured nationally from January 1998 through December 1999. The band's name came from the last names of its four members: Steve Kimock (guitar), Bobby Vega (bass), Alan Hertz (drums), and Ray White (vocals and guitar). However, due to personal issues, Ray White was replaced by other musicians for some shows: Terry Haggerty replaced him from May 13, 1999 through July 5, 1999, and Ike Willis and Chip Roland sat in for some shows without White in December 1999. Jimmy Herring also filled in for several shows following White's departure. Haggerty continued to play with the band through October 3, 1999. White was kicked out of the band after failing to show up for the December 17, 1999 show."

Jerry Garcia, Phil Lesh & Tom Donahue
KMPX Radio Show
April 1967

Great early FM "progressive" or "free-form" radio broadcast featuring tunes that inspired the Dead. Everything here from Ray Charles to James Brown to Charles Mingus to Bob Dylan to Junior Wells.
